Perimeter Safety
MARRIOTT
SPROWSTON MANOR HOTEL GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB (NORWICH)
The driving range was modified in the early months of 2008 and the
back fence was no longer high enough to protect the members when on
the green immediately behind the back fence, as you can see by the
picture the fencing was originally installed at the height of 2 –
meters, we removed a 40 –meter section and replaced it with fencing
to the height of 10 – meters, please note the picture shown was
taken during the installation of the netting and not the completed
project.

CLECKHEATON CRICKET CLUB
(WEST YORKSHIRE).
This fence was installed to replace an existing fence in which after
a number of years was seriously damaged by high winds to the extent
were it was beyond economical repair, the height of the fencing was
raised slightly higher than the old one to minimize the risk of
balls being hit over the fence, immediately behind the boundary wall
is a pedestrian footpath and a main road, all the steel sections
were Hot Dipped Galvanized and Powder Coated Green.

BAY VIEW GOLF CLUB
(PENSEVEY BAY SUSSEX) 2008.
60 – meters x 10 – meters of our ball stop perimeter/safety fencing
was installed just short of the 1st green, this is to protect the
caravans on the holiday park which is located just to the right of
our newly installed fence.

MAIDENHEAD GOLF CENTRE
(BRAYWICK PARK, BERKSHIRE)
This Fence was installed at Maidenhead Golf Centre, Braywick Park,
Maidenhead Berkshire to protect the Market Garden Centre in which is
adjacent to the Golf Driving Range, Maidenhead Golf Centre seem to
have a lot of rabbits around the area so 500mm of Galvanized Rabbit
wire was in installed to the bottom of the fence. It is always good
to advise us on any wildlife in which live on the premises prior to
us installing our fences, as they cause a lot of damage to the lower
level of the nets and can be very costly to rectify at a later date.

Specialist Sports Fencing Limited also carried out all the ground
works, drainage and concrete works to the newly built Golf Driving
Range, Golf Shop and Ball Management Room at Maidenhead Golf Centre,
Braywick Park (Please see Case Study Page For Details)

CROYDON GOLF DRIVING RANGE
(SURREY)
This fence was installed at Croydon Golf Driving Range at the bottom
of the range outfield to protect a tram station, as you can see the
original fence was proving to be inadequate as balls were going over
the top and endangering members of the public whilst waiting for the
public transport.

PORTSMOUTH GOLF CENTRE
(HAMPSHIRE)
160 – meters x 6.5 – meters of our ball stop perimeter/safety
fencing was installed to the right hand side of the Golf Driving
Range and Shop to replace an old system that had been damaged by the
high winds & the salt in the sea air, the sea is about 400 yards to
the left of the Driving Range Out Field, the ground is very soft in
this area therefore they have the pleasure of having lots of rabbits
living in the area! 500mm of Galvanised Rabbit wire was installed to
the bottom section of the fence to prevent the golf netting from
being damaged.
This was our third contract carried out for Mr Terry Healy at
Portsmouth Golf Centre, our first contract was to carry out an earth
moving contract, clear an area of waste land, form & reshape an
earth bund to extend the total length of the driving range to 300
yards plus and also to install a low level ball stop
perimeter/safety fence on the top of the newly formed earth bund.

With the complete Customer Satisfaction we guarantee we are
frequently being asked back to carry out further works for a lot of
our customers, this picture is of the opposite side fence on the
Driving Range at Thornbury Golf Centre, this system was also
modified in the same way as the fence on the Right Hand Side in
2004.

THORNBURY GOLF CENTRE
(SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE)
60 – Meters x 6.5 – meters of our ball stop perimeter/safety fencing
was installed at the back of the Driving Range to protect the
employees of the water board who frequently are working on the
reservoirs situated immediately behind the existing back fence, due
to golf club technology the existing fence was no longer high
enough, this is the case with a lot of existing Ball Stop
Perimeter/Safety Fencing Systems around the country.

GRIMSBY GOLF CENTRE
(LINCOLNSHIRE)
The fences at Grimsby Golf Centre were extremely damaged caused by
the extremely high winds and snow in 2008, we carried out the repair
works by reusing any materials in which we could repair and also new
netting was needed in several sections, again the fences are to
protect the players using the golf course adjacent to the left hand
side of the range and also the fence on the right hand side protects
members of the public using the public footpath and also the green
staff in which travel down the same route to gain access to there
greens storage sheds.
The Above Picture is of the left hand fence during and after the
high winds and heavy snow falls at Grimsby Golf Centre.
The picture below is of the same fence at Grimsby Golf Centre after
the repair works had been completed, as you can see at the bottom of
the driving range outfield a tracked access boom was needed to carry
these repair works out as the ground was so wet and self propelled
wheeled access machines were just sinking and causing a lot of
damage to the outfield, the wheeled machines had to be towed off the
outfield and the tracked access boom had to be transported over from
Liverpool, there are only a limited amount of these machines in the
country and on some occasions we can be waiting several weeks if not
months for one to become available. We always recommend that any
suspect repair works that looks like it will need attending to if we
experience any extreme weather should be carried out during the
summer months whilst the ground is dry enough to stand the heavy
access equipment required to carry out the works.

(LINCOLNSHIRE)
Grimsby Golf Centre is located in a very exposed area in the North East of Lincolnshire and very often experience extreme weather conditions, Specialist Sports Fencing Ltd has maintained the entire fences at the Golf Centre since the early 2000`s, this also has included extending the overall height of the fencing on both sides and all necessary repair works. The picture below is of the right hand side fence after the repair works were carried out after the high winds and heavy snow falls also in the winter months of 2008.

High Steel Golf Driving Range Perimeter/Safety Fencing
Some examples of perimeter safety fencing that we have put in over the years:
A 30 metre long by 10 metre high ball stop perimeter fence installed at Ashdon-on-Mersy golf club in Manchester. This is the second fence they have asked us to erect, after the success of the first one which was installed in January 2004.

These two pictures are of Ossiers Driving Range in Norfolk. We replaced a fence that had blown down in high winds and reduced the height of the left hand side of the fence to avoid the danger of the fence blowing down in the future.

Padbrook Park, Cullampton, Devon. 100m long by 10m high fence installed on a new driving range.

Thornbury Golf Centre in South Gloucestershire. We repaired the fence by welding new fixings to the existing upright posts and rewiring the actual fence with a heavier gauge of wire and installing one of the strongest nets on the european market. This contract was carried out at night, to minimise disruption to the range which actually opened as normal during the day.

Whitby Cricket Club, North Yorkshire. 40m x 12m retractable fence to protect the properties you can see beyond. All posts were sprayed with zinger spray weatherproofing to protect from corrosion that could potentially be caused by the sea air.
